It’s time to say goodbye to a very popular family attraction at Universal Studios.

Universal Studios Orlando announced on Wednesday that the Shrek 4D attraction will permanently close on January 10, 2022.

The attraction first opened up in 2003, just two years after the success of Shrek (2001). If you aren’t familiar with the attraction, park guests wear 3D glasses and join Shrek and Donkey on an adventure to help Princess Fiona escape the ghost of Lord Farquaad.

Since the attraction opened, the Shrek franchise has had a huge impact on the Universal Studios Orlando park. Sadly, that’s coming to an end.

Not only will the attraction close, but so will Shrek’s Ye Olde Souvenir Shoppe, according to News 13.

Luckily, the Meet Shrek and Donkey experience will remain open.

There has been no announcement on what will replace Shrek 4D, but you can find updates here.

The Universal Studios globe is an iconic Florida landmark. Can you think of any others?
