Plans to update the interchange between I-4 and I-275 in downtown Tampa is included as an improvement project. Those who get around without cars will benefit from the changes.

There are three major projects in the Tampa Bay area. The Howard Frankland Bridge, the Westshore Interchange and the downtown Tampa interchange of I-4 and I-275. The downtown Tampa interchange project is getting a face lift that will connect neighborhoods with a plan for trails and green spaces.

The Florida Department of Transportation is adding more options for transportation beyond cars. The addition of trails for bicycles and pedestrians is expected to help connect parts of downtown to Tampa's Central Business District. Those parts include Tampa Heights and Ybor City.

The paths will run from 15th Street to the north and to 21st Street south of I-4. When complete, the extension from Nuccio Parkway will connect Vila Brothers Park in Hyde Park to Ybor City.
