VIDEO: Boaters Save Dog Swimming Off Florida Coast
Is it a dolphin? Is it a manatee? No, it’s a dog.
A group of boaters came to the rescue after they saw a dog treading water a half mile off the coast of Ft. Lauderdale. Apparently, the dog had been paddling through the ocean for over an hour before he was saved. You can see the video recorded from one of the boaters, Byron Crowell, here.

After bringing the dog on-board, NBC 2 reports that the boaters were eventually able to contact the owners of the dog.
According to a text message exchange between Crowell and the owner, the dog’s name is Zucko. Being just a puppy, his owners say he was trying to bite the water splashing the sides of the boat. The owners say he must have jumped off and they didn’t realize until it was too late. You can read the full text exchange here.
Thankfully, Zucko has been reunited with his owners.
