Tom Brady Sets Record, Teammate Mike Evans Gives Away Football
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ quarterback, in his second season leading the team has set another mark. His teammate didn’t know and gave away the ball which needed to be retrieved from a fan.
Late in the first quarter against the Chicago Bears, Tom Brady threw a touchdown pass to Mike Evans. This has happened plenty of times, but this one was special. This was Brady’s 600th career touchdown pass. He’s the first (and, obviously the only) quarterback to reach that milestone.
Some very quick stats from other sports:
- 20 NHL players have scored 600 goals
- 9 major league baseball players have hit at least 600 home runs
- 1 NFL quarterback has thrown for 600 touchdowns.
The story got a little weird when Evans, as he does after every touchdown he scores, gave the ball to a fan in the stands. Now, it was up to someone from the organization to get the ball back. This took several minutes of negotiations with the fan to achieve. Watch the video below and see how it all unwound.

Then, a reporter spoke to the lucky fan.
Tom Brady was asked in the postgame press conference about what happened.
