Pinellas County, through the Florida Department of Health, is offering free shots with its “Boo to the Flu” initiative.

During the pandemic, people stayed home more, washed more, and were exposed less to the flu. Now, as we approach the holidays, immunity to the flu may be lower than past seasons.

In preparation for the upcoming flu season, Pinellas County is setting up free flu shot clinics. Ahead of Halloween, they’re calling it “Boo to the Flu.” See what they did there?

Since it takes two to three weeks for flu shots to take full effect, the push is to get the shot now, before holiday travel begins.

Shots will be offered this week through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. by appointment or walk-in. Flu shots are available to adults and children older than six months. Here are the five locations in Pinellas County residents may visit for free flu shots.

  • St. Petersburg: 205 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street N.
  • Clearwater: 310 N. Myrtle Avenue
  • Largo: 8751 Ulmerton Road
  • Pinellas Park: 6350 76th Avenue
  • Tarpon Springs: 301 S. Disston Avenue
