With deputies chasing a stolen van, the driver crashed on a bridge and chose to jump to the river below.
Lee County Sheriff's deputies had pulled over a vehicle that was identified as stolen. Deputies pursued when the driver of the van attempted to escape. The van crashed into a barrier on the Edison Bridge over the Caloosahatchee Bridge.
The incident was caught on camera from a helicopter, from which you can see what the man did next. The driver got out of the van, climbed over a safety barrier and leapt into the water.
Officers were already below in a boat, and they picked him up quickly. The man is being charged with theft, fleeing and eluding.
