Reports of Delayed and Lost Packages at the USPS Ybor City Distribution Center
MJ is having a problem with the U.S. Postal Service. After talking about it on the air, it turns out many Tampa Bay area residents are having problems, too.
MJ ordered a small bottle of gun oil from a vendor on Amazon. He says it was supposed to arrive about 2 weeks ago, but he still hasn’t gotten it.
It was last scanned at the Ybor City mail distribution center on the 18th of November. MJ recently received a notification stating that the package is expected to deliver today. If it doesn’t, he can opt in for a refund or a replacement. But that still doesn’t explain why it is taking forever to leave the facility.

When MJ solicited calls for postal workers, he ended up getting calls from listeners who are also having the same issue.
Listener Kim from Port Richey told MJ and the gang that she reported a claim to the Ybor City distribution center, but won’t hear back for another 1-7 days. She says, “this isn’t the first time” she’s had an issue with the USPS.
Listener Nicole from Springfield, Ohio says her niece from Lakeland sent a package to her at the end of September. She says the package was last scanned in Ybor City. After her niece filed a claim, she was told the issue had been resolved. However, when she goes to check the tracking information, “it’s still lost in Ybor City.” The package has yet to arrive on her doorstep.
Kimberly, a local business owner in Brandon, says “we have over thousands of packages that are getting lost in the Ybor hub.”
Listener Candace began expecting her daughter’s senior pictures in the mail since August. However she says, “they got stuck in Ybor City.” Eventually, the company resent the order and received a new delivery. But only just a few weeks ago, she got the original order from back in August.
Matias, an Amazon vendor from Clearwater, says he’s “had more packages lost in Ybor to customers than anywhere else.”
Eventually, MJ gets in touch with a mail carrier in Tampa Bay. She didn’t give her name, but she says most sorting facilities are “overwhelmed.”
There is no definite answer as to why packages are delayed after they arrive at the Ybor City distribution center. Hopefully, the USPS will be able to fix any issues before the holiday season really picks up.
