Florida Weather Weirdness: Ever Seen a “Fogbow?”
You’ve seen a rainbow. Ever seen a fogbow?
Nope, can’t say I have. I guess sometimes they’re called “white rainbows” since they have no color. This pic was taken during the dreary fog we’ve seen this week here in the Tampa area. This particular shot was snapped near Sarasota. According to Wikipedia, the reason you don’t see any color is because the water droplets in them are too small. They sometimes have an edges or red or blue but that’s about it.
Yes, fogbows are a thing. Here's one on Casey Key this morning. Fogbows are similar to rainbows, but are devoid of color because water droplets in fog are so tiny.📷Katja Dietze #Florida pic.twitter.com/DhIUs0xMIM
