The well-known Tampa landmark closed, closing the door on the city's last drive-in movie theater.

The Fun-Lan Drive-in Theatre has been in Tampa since 1950. Needing to make money to stay open, they added a swap shop/flea market to the property. In 1994, Fun-Lan Drive In became the last drive-in in Tampa. Sadly, the theater has lost out to other forms of media.

The owner who purchased the land in 2001 died in 2017. His wife has continued the ownership. The property has been for sale since after his death.

The familiar sign has been there since opening in 1950. It is going to be preserved.

An artist group known as Crab Devil is dismantling the sign. They plan to add it to their art attraction off Nebraska Avenue near Seminole Heights.

You can take a look at an empty Tampa's Fun-Lan Drive-in from in the 1990's.
