Bizarre New Year’s Eve Incident on I-275 Kills Pinellas Park Man
Police are still trying to piece together a strange series of events that happened early this morning on I-275.
Fox 13 reports a 25 year old man from Pinellas Park was killed after he exited a moving car on I-275 just south of State Road 60. The woman who was driving, 38 year old Toshia Lizette Caldwell of Port Richey, has been arrested and charged with DUI. Her blood alcohol content was .077. There’s no indication yet that she is responsible for the man falling out of the car.
Florida Highway Patrol records say that the 2017 Hyundai Elantra was moving at “highway speed” when the man was ejected. They have no idea why he exited. He was hit by other vehicles passing by and died at the scene. They say none of those drivers stopped. They’re not even sure how many vehicles hit him.
The incident happened at about 2:23AM. FHP is asking anyone who might have witnessed the incident to call 813-558-1800. [Sources: Channel 8, Fox 13]
