Geno’s 10 “Gotta See” Concerts Coming To Florida in 2022

It was so great to have concerts back in 2021. While we’re not out of the woods with COVID yet, live music was one of the reasons I was first in line to get vax’d in spring and then boosted last month. It was all worth it getting to see Vince Neil at the Hard Rock and then stepping on stage to host Freestyle Explosion at Amalie Arena with Stevie B, Lisa Lisa, Expose, Tag Team, and a bunch of other Q105 Saturday Night Dance Party favorites.

Hopefully we keep making progress so we don’t have to see more cancellations and postponements. I’ve gotta have my concerts! Here are the 10 shows I’m most psyched to see in 2022.

• February 17: TLC (Canceled)

  Unfortunately the show at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Tampa has been canceled.

• February 28: The Eagles

  The current lineup with Don Henley, Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit, Deacon Frey and Vince Gill play Amalie Arena February 28. Ticket prices range from $125.25 to $465.25.

• May 21: Guns N’ Roses

  Axl and the band headlines day 3 of Welcome to Rockville. Also performing: Shinedown, Rise Against, Bush and Jerry Cantrell.
• March 4: Boyz II Men

  Another Q105 Saturday Night Dance Party favorite! They'll play this year's Florida Strawberry Festival in Plant City.

• March 19: Green Day & Goo Goo Dolls

  The bands along with 311, Incubus, the Lumineers and Jimmy Eat World will play Raymond James Stadium in Tampa at the first "Innings Festival."

• March 22: Richard Marx

  Hold On To The Nights… well this night: Tuesday, March 22, 2022. That’s when ’80s ballad master Richard Marx will be in Clearwater for a performance at the Bilheimer Capitol Theatre. It’ll be a night of acoustic performances of some of his biggest Q105 hits like “Right Here Waiting,” “Hold On To The Nights,” “Don’t Mean Nothing,” “Should’ve Known Better” and “Endless Summer Nights.” He’ll also sprinkle in a few hits he’s written for other artists.
• April 7: New Edition

  It'll be a night of Q105 Saturday Night Dance Party favorites as New Edition's "The Culture Tour" comes to Amalie Arena in Tampa. I expect we'll also hear hits from the group's spinoff project Bell Biv Devoe and some great solo hits from Bobby Brown and Ralph Tresvant.

• March 8: Nelson

  You might remember their 90s hits "Love and Affection," "After The Rain" or "More Than Ever." They'll perform their father's hits too in "Ricky Nelson Remembered" at the Strawberry Festival in Plant City.

• June 10: Tears For Fears

  A great band to see live! Opening will be Garbage at the MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Amphitheater.
• June 18 & 19: Motley Crue, Def Leppard, Poison and Joan Jett

  Miami's show will be on June 18. The next night the tour comes to Orlando. Then the tour moves north but comes back to Florida for a show in Jacksonville on July 2. Unfortunately still no word of any Tampa dates for the tour.

One festival I was hoping to go to was that big hairbands weekend in Key West. Bret Michaels, Winger, Firehouse, Skid Row, Warrant, Bullet Boys, Dee Snider from Twisted Sister, Slaughter, Lita Ford, Great White … man such an awesome lineup. It’s called Rok Island 2022. It goes from January 14 through the 17th. As much as I’d love to go, tickets are crazy expensive and accommodations in Key West are even worse.
