VIDEO: Florida Woman Speaks with Deputies After Bear Attack
A DeBary, Florida woman was the victim of a bear attack on Thursday, according to Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.
Aydee was out walking her dog around 9 P.M. when she encountered a bear, according to Fox 35. Reports say she began running from the animal, but it began chasing after her. She told police that the bear was clawing at her back.
Luckily, Aydee was able to make contact with one of her neighbors, Awston Kennedy. They were able to scare the bear away.
Apparently, Kennedy saw the bear in front of his house before the attack. According to reports, people tried to shoo the bear away. Then that’s when the bear attacked Aydee while she was walking her dog.
Apparently, FWC tranquilized the bear, and determined it would continue to be a threat to humans in the neighborhood. They decided to humanely euthanize the bear, Fox 35 reports.
Thankfully, her dog was found safe and unharmed from the bear encounter. As for Aydee, she is recovering from a twisted ankle and possible concussion.
