Finally!  We have an opening date for the new coaster the world has been waiting for.  Seriously.  There are roller coaster enthusiasts around the world that will be flying in to Tampa to ride Iron Gwazi.  And they can starting March 11.

Iron Gwazi will open as North America’s tallest hybrid coaster. Plus it'll be the fastest and steepest hybrid coaster in the world. The ride features a 206-foot-tall peak into a 91-degree drop. It will reach top speeds of 76 miles per hour. There are a dozen airtime moments, including three inversions. Iron Gwazi races along more than 4,075 feet of purple steel track. This coaster has a 48” height requirement.

Can't wait til March? Pass Members will get to ride the coaster on select dates starting February 11.

“The incredible anticipation for Iron Gwazi is shared by both our guests and Ambassadors, and we are beyond excited to open this amazing coaster,” said Neal Thurman, Busch Gardens Tampa Bay Park President. “Iron Gwazi diversifies our thrill ride portfolio and is an impressive addition to the Tampa skyline. Combining classic elements of a wooden coaster with a smooth, steel track will provide thrill seekers with an unforgettable experience.”

Manufactured by Rocky Mountain Construction, the newest addition at Busch Gardens is a wood and steel hybrid coaster design. It combines the innovation of a steel coaster and the nostalgia of a wooden coaster. Elements of Gwazi, the classic wooden coaster you might remember, are integrated into the new ride.

Here's what it'll look like to ride it.

My favorite thing at Busch Gardens...

I can't believe it took me dozens of visits to Busch Gardens to finally notice this!
