London-Bound Flight Makes U-Turn Back to Florida
You may have heard the slogan, “you are why we fly.” But this is more like, “you are why we turn around.”
An American Airlines flight was already on its way to London Heathrow Airport from Miami International Airport when it had to turn around mid-flight, according to the airline. Apparently, a passenger refused to wear a mask, which caused pilots to make a U-turn.
The airline said in a statement,
“American Airlines flight 38 with service from Miami (MIA) to London (LHR) returned to MIA due to a disruptive customer refusing to comply with the federal mask requirement.”
Police met the passenger at the gate upon arrival but was not arrested, according to a report from NBC 6 in Miami.
