Over 60 Scooters, Traffic Cones, and a Wheelchair Removed from Hillsborough River
It’s that time of year again. More scooters have been found in Tampa Bay waterways.
Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful, a non-profit organization in Tampa, fished out 62 scooters from Hillsborough River on Tuesday.
I’m out here with @KeepTBB and more than a dozen divers. We’re fishing for scooters on this rainy day. Last time they cleaned up the Hillsborough river, nearly 70 scooters were pulled. Insane. @10TampaBay pic.twitter.com/hoxelVAWws

Tampa Police, Florida Wildlife Control, Adventure Outfitters, Tampa Parks and Recreation, and the Illuminate Group all contributed effort to clean up the river. But not only did 13 divers fish out almost 70 scooters, they also found traffic cones, bicycles, and a wheelchair.
During the last river cleanup in November, divers found 67 scooters in the bay. However, these are just the scooters that divers found. It’s no telling how many more scooters are sitting in the bottom of the river.
