Gas Prices Continue Steady Rise As Russia Invades Ukraine

Gas prices are displayed on a pump. Increasing demand and dwindling supplies coupled with global supply uncertainty driven by the war in Ukraine have driven gas prices over $4-per-gallon in many parts of the country.

Prices at the pump keep going up thanks to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. This morning at most gas stations in the Tampa area, prices are running between $4.19 and $4.39 per gallon for regular unleaded. But the Tampa Bay Times reports help is on the way... in October. That's when the state will suspend the gas tax for one month. That'll save you about a quarter on every gallon.

The decision was made yesterday. That's about $200 million lost in revenue but that'll be covered by a federal money from the coronavirus stimulus.

Why October? The official answer is that it's when Florida has the fewest number of tourists. Some are pointing out that it also is the month before the election. Either way, if you can wait until this fall to fill up, you'll save a few bucks. [Source: Tampa Bay Times]
