After David Lee Roth left Van Halen, the search was on for a new singer. One of the singers on the band's radar was Patty Smyth, but apparently, Daryl Hall was in the running, too.

In a new interview, Hall was asked if it was true that Eddie Van Halen approached him to front Van Halen, Hall responded, "Well, yeah. Actually, yes. I knew those guys really well; we actually shared some people — crew and things like that. And Eddie came to a show with Valerie [Bertinelli.] This goes back, you know, and David had just left the band. And Eddie said, 'Do you wanna join Van Halen, man?'"

Hall continued, "He was half-joking, but I think he was serious. I really do believe he was serious, and I took it seriously. I went, 'Meh, I think not. I think I've got my own s--- going on.'"

What an answer! "I think I've got my own s--- going on." (Side note: How many of us wanted to tell our bosses something similar if they asked you if you wanted to work more hours than you wanted? I digress.)

Speaking of "s--- going on," Hall recently added more dates to his upcoming solo tour which features Todd Rundgren as a special guest/opening act. Complete tour/ticket details can be found at LiveFromDarylsHouse.com.
