Orlando Ride Closed After Teen Killed After Fall
An awful scene last night in Orlando as a 14 year old boy fell to his death after something went wrong on the “Free Fall” ride at ICON Park on International Drive, according to WKMG. The incident happened late last night after 11pm. Witnesses say they initially thought it was debris falling until they saw the boy’s body hit the ground. The boy was taken to the hospital but did not survive. The ride remains closed while they investigate what went wrong.
There is said to be footage of the fall on social media, but it is NOT in the video above. Free Fall opened just 3 months ago back in December. The website for the attraction describes it as “the world’s tallest free-standing drop tower” at 430 feet. Once the ride reaches the top, riders are tilted forward to face the ground before the ride drops 400 feet at speeds “over 75 mph,” according to the site.
At a press conference this afternoon, the victim was identified as Tyre Samson. They said was visiting from Missouri with a friend’s family.
