Tampa Bay Wakes Up To Smell of Smoke
Do you smell smoke? There have been many reports of the smell of smoke in Tampa Bay this morning. The Florida Forest Service is performing some controlled burns to hopefully fend off larger wildfires. That said, hot, dry and breezy conditions today could produce more fires. #flwx pic.twitter.com/BwoumCg8Oe

Did you smell it this morning? There’s a red flag warning today for Tampa Bay. That means there’s a higher than usual wildfire risk. A few have already started to spread and with no chance of rain in the forecast and a high temp near 90 today, crews will be busy.
Grant Gilmore from WTSP said in a tweet this morning that the Florida Forest Service is doing some controlled burns to try to cut off any wildfires that could spread. There are contained fires near New Port Richey and Lakeland. The Tampa Bay Times reports about 1400 acres have already burned up in the Florida Panhandle this month. The good news is that cooler weather coming in tomorrow should help. [Source: Tampa Bay Times]
