Florida Man Goes on Guitar Shopping Spree with Elderly Woman’s Credit Card, Police Say
A Florida man is still on the run after he allegedly bought 11 Les Paul Gibson guitars with an elderly woman’s credit card.
Volusia County Sheriff’s Office says 49-year-old Mystery Shiloh Demarest was given access to the 78-year-old woman’s card after he had moved in with her and her sick husband. Things began to go south in May of 2019, reports say.
According to deputies, packages began showing up to the home of the couple soon after Demarest was given access to their card. However, he blamed the purchases on his girlfriend, and told the woman he would return the items, police say.
Eventually, Demarest and the elderly woman had no more communication with each other. But that didn’t stop Demarest from allegedly purchasing 11 Les Paul Gibson guitars. She says the charges showed up on her bank statement.
Investigators say they found that Demarest also had rented a storage unit, which eventually went up for auction on StorageTreasures.com. Upon a search, police found the 11 guitars along with speakers, a drum set, and more.
Mystery Demarest’s whereabouts still remain a mystery, but police say they believe he is located somewhere in Raleigh, North Carolina.
