Dozens of stolen golf carts were linked to a Florida man who lives in Apollo Beach.

Nathan Rodney Nelson received a two year sentence in federal prison. An FBI investigation that began in 2019 uncovered his thefts that took place in multiple states.

With golf carts disappearing in North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin and Minnesota, the FBI was called in for help. The investigation led authorities to arrest Nelson, formerly of Minnesota, now living in Apollo Beach.

More than 60 golf carts were stolen. The carts were taken from golf courses, then re-sold for $2,500 apiece. The total haul from the thefts came to about $283,500.

Along with the two years of federal prison, he’ll also have three years of supervised release and pay restitution of about $14,000.
