The Disaster Prep Sales Tax Holiday kicks off today.
It runs from Saturday, May 28 through Friday, June 19. That gives you a good chunk of time to buy supplies to have on hand in case disaster strikes. You can buy a variety of disaster preparedness items without having to pay sales tax.
One new caveat to this holiday this go around is that if you reside in Florida you will also be able to buy pet supplies. Included on the list are supplies that are $2 or less for wet pet food (can or pouch). Also items that qualify in the less than $15 category are as follows: cat litter pans, collapsible or travel-sized food or water bowls, hamster or rabbit substrate, manual can openers, and pet waste disposal bags.
In the $20 or less category, you can avoid sales tax on: leashes and collars, muzzles, and pee pads.
In the $25 or less category, you can avoid sales tax on: cat litter weighing 25 pounds or less.
In the $30 or less category, you can avoid sales tax on: dry pet food weighing 15 pounds or less.
In the $40 or less category, you can avoid sales tax on: pet beds.
In the $100 or less category, you can avoid sales tax on: pet carriers and kennels.
