Someone was driving on a sidewalk to avoid traffic. This driver wasn’t given the same driving lessons as the rest of traffic.

Sarasota sheriff’s deputies were alerted with a video of a driver who regularly drove on a sidewalk to avoid a backup in traffic. This was happening at the 8000 block of Fruitville Rd. in Sarasota, according the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.

The video sent to law enforcement got a response by having a deputy sent to the location the next day. The deputy witnessed the same thing at about 7 a.m. The driver pulled off the sidewalk and back into traffic upon noticing the deputy’s car. The driver was cited for driving on the sidewalk.

In the Facebook post, the Sheriff’s Office wrote, “We REALLY shouldn’t have to say this, but you are not supposed to drive a motor vehicle on the sidewalk.”

The video below contains the video sent to the sheriff’s office followed by the deputy’s dash cam.
