Dunedin Homeowner Faces $30,000 In Fines… Because of His Lawn
Got that neighbor who just won’t take care of his yard? Maybe move to Dunedin.
Channel 8 reports that James Ficken of Dunedin is now facing almost $30,000 in penalties because his grass was too high. As you can imagine, this wasn’t a one-time fine. They say the battle between Ficken and the city dates back to 2015. Fines have added up… $500 a day. After appeals and court hearings, the verdict is in. Ficken has to pay up.
The fines started about 5 years ago when Ficken left Florida to sell his mother’s home. He says the guy he hired to take care of cutting the grass had died and he didn’t know. By the time the problem was addressed, that whopping total was close to the $30K mark.
