My Least Favorite Chore
I don’t know many people who love chores. I do not particularly like housework of any kind. I don’t mind cooking. And washing dishes after dinner is sometimes relaxing because you can stare into space. But I loathe doing laundry.
With little kids, it seems like they go through multiple outfits a day and all the clothing is teeny-tiny and harder to manage. I swear, I feel like all I do in my free time is laundry. It is never-ending.
Sometimes I try to get my kids involved in the sorting part of it, but they prefer to make piles of clothes to jump in.
As disorganized as I can be, I actually have a very particular, OCD way of folding all the clothes (rolling up like the lady who wrote the book, The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up). So even if I have a family member or a babysitter over, and they’re so kind as to help me with the laundry, I have to then go back and re-fold everything the way I like it.
In addition to being a task that I can never complete, I also think I’m not very good at it. I shrunk one of my hubby’s sweaters so bad that it now fits my five-year-old. I occasionally wash wrong-colored clothes together and they bleed all over each other.
I guess if I wanted to get better or more organized when it comes to doing laundry, I could read articles like this. But I’m so bogged down with clothes to fold, I do not have time.
What is the chore you dread the most?
