Where In Florida Are Housing Prices Climbing The Fastest?
We’ve seen the housing market go crazy in recent years?
And it certainly seems like plenty of people want to move to Florida and especially the Tampa Bay area. Whether it’s folks from the upper east coast or out west, Florida is a desirable destination. I have family members who moved here from Detroit, Michigan and Chicago, Illinois just in the past year.
So what’s the current trend? Where do cities and areas around our Sunshine State currently stand as far as home purchase prices go?
Our friends at News Channel 8 reviewed a housing trends report from Redfin and found some interesting statistics.
According to Redfin, when you look at the fastest-growing sales prices, three states fill up the entire top ten list. And one state has the most, our Sunshine State.
Here’s the list of numbers 3-10 with their corresponding sales price growth perceent. You will notice they are ALL Florida cities.
Lehigh Acres 32%
West Palm Beach 29.9%
St. Petersburg 28.9%
Port St. Lucie 28.6%
Cape Coral 27.9%
Palm Bay 27.8%
Riverview 27.7%
Kissimmee 25.9%
If you want to buy a home in Tampa, you’ll have to fork out some cash (and/or get a big loan). The median sale price is $410,400. And you have to take into consideration that most homes sell ABOVE listing price.
And if you are wondering about the cities who earned the top spots, numbers 1 and 2, I’ve got them for you. First is Detroit, which experienced 37.1% increases in sale prices.
And second on the list, you’ll find Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

'Frozen Stiffs' Ice Cream Hearse Visits The MJ Morning Show
MJ heard about a guy rolling around Tampa Bay in an old hearse selling ice cream. Well, we tracked him down and invited him to bring Ice Cream to the entire radio station.
Anthony Lamont, owner of “Frozen Stiffs” served up some ghoulishly delicious ice cream treats to everyone. MJ got the Ice Cream Sandwich while Fester scored one of the last few Choco Tacos left in the world!
MJ treated the radio stations, plus some of the other offices in our building, to some early ice cream. Anthony and the “Frozen Stiffs” Ice Cream Hearse doesn’t drive through neighborhoods like your average ice cream truck.
