Roxanne’s Easy Crescent Roll Fruit & Cheese Recipe
MJ was giving me a hard time, saying this sounded gross, but trust me…it’s delicious and super easy to throw together if you get an invite to a party and don’t want to show up empty handed.
You only need a handful of items. I’m going to tell you my favorites, but you can mix it up however you’d like.
Ingredients needed:
~a can of Pillsbury dough crescent rolls
~a wheel of gouda cheese (or maybe you’d like to try brie or cheddar…whatever you’d like)
~apricot preserves (or maybe you’re feeling like you’re in a strawberry jam mood…or apple preserves)
~crushed nuts of some kind (my favorite is walnuts)
You take the dough out of the can. Flatten it out into one big pie. Place the cheese in the center. Top the cheese with preserves so the cheese is covered. Sprinkle the nuts on top. Then fold the crescent roll dough up and over so it’s completely covered and cinch it together. Bake it for about 15 minutes at whatever temp the crescent roll container suggests.
Easy as can be and your appetizer will be the hit of the party.
Also, my daughters and I love to cook together. You can check out some of our recipes here.
Throw It Together Thursday: Coconut Shrimp And Candied Nuts
In the spirit of Halloween, we decided to go with an orange palette of food. How about Sunbasket’s Coconut Shrimp with Cucumber Salad and Pineapple-Ginger Mayo? And if you want a nice snack to set out for guests, how about some candied nuts? Jordan Skinny Syrups has an easy recipe. My daughter is approaching 2 1/2 years old and getting more creative with her cooking. Sometimes it works and sometimes, not so much. Here are the ingredients you’ll need for both dishes.
Coconut Shrimp with Cucumber Salad and Pineapple-Ginger Mayo:
1 organic cucumber
2 organic radishes
Honey-lime vinaigrette (lime juice – honey – Aleppo chile flakes – olive oil)
1 TBS black sesame seeds
10 oz wild Gulf shrimp
1 egg
½ cup shredded coconut
1 teaspoon granulated garlic
Pineapple-ginger mayo (pineapple – mayo – sambal oelek – garlic – ginger)
Candied Nuts:
Favorite nuts (we went with almonds)
