Is Madonna Gay or Gay-Baiting In TikTok Trending Video?
Madonna came out as gay yesterday (October 9) on TikTok — or so it seems. The singer, 64, partook in a TikTok trend where someone “attempts” to shoot something into the garbage but purposely misses. In Madonna’s version, the words: “If I miss, I’m Gay!” are written over the video. She holds a bright pink pair of underwear and the video edit shows a purposeful miss. As the camera goes back to Madonna, she looks down at the dropped panties, back up to the camera and throws her arm in the air to confirm her message.

Fans had mixed reactions to Madonna’s video, with some supporting and acknowledging her statement, while others believe it to just be gay/queer-baiting (a marketing technique in which creators hint at being gay but aren’t actually). Madonna has famously kissed Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera back at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards, but she has only publicly been with men. She was married to Sean Penn and Guy Ritchie, having two children with Ritchie (Rocco and David Banda). Madonna also had daughter Lourdes from her prior relationship to Carlos Leon. The “Material Girl” adopted Mercy James in 2009 and twins Stelle and Estere in 2017, all from Malawi.
Madonna also famously dated Tupac Shakur, Dennis Rodman, Michael Jackson, Lenny Kravitz, David Blaine, Vanilla Ice and Alex Rodriguez. Her last relationship was with a man by the name of Ahlamalik Williams, who was more than 30 years younger than her.
One commenter on TikTok wrote underneath the video: “Did I just witness Madonna coming out, good for her,” while another wrote, “Her PR team is freaking out rn.” Another comment reads: “y’all Madonna has been out as bi longer than some of us have been alive.” One person commented, “Did Madonna just come out? And I’m witnessing it in real time??”
