WWE Holds Two-Day Tryout In Tampa Bay
Who will be the next World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) mega star?
WWE is looking for that special someone who will shine in the ring. The next John Cena? The next Rock? (kind of funny both those guys have ties to the area). The league held a tryout at IMG Academy in Bradenton. They are looking for talented former elite college athletes. That’s a good place to start.
There were a total of 30 athletes who participated in the tryout. One former WWE star known as Big E analyzed the talent.
He explained, “We’re putting them through the paces of rolling in the ring, hitting the ropes, doing the bumps, and see how they react, seeing how they learn day-to-day. But also, we’re seeing them on the microphone, seeing how their promos are. That’s a huge part of it. That’s what we do is having these larger-than-life characters.”
I did a story back in the day for CBS Studio 10 Morning Show and it featured the late Dusty Rhodes, also Steve Keirn, Norman Smiley and the Divas of Wrestling. It was amazing because they showed me what it was like to be a Diva.

Froggy's Favorite Fish Catches
I’ve been fishing my entire life. My father introduced me to fishing when I was a young boy.
Our favorite fishing spot to explore was Honeymoon Island. We’d go there numerous times a year. I remember always being so excited to go to the bait shop at 4 o’clock in the morning. (And it helped prepare me for my early alarm clocks in radio.) I can still remember the smell of the bait shop till this day.
It took me a long time to master fishing. It’s really been the last 15 years or so during which I’ve finally started to catch some descent fish around the Tampa Bay area.
People often ask me for tips on how to catch more fish and. To be honest, the best tip is to use artificial lures. I’ve recently started seriously coaching my two boys so they can follow in mine and my father’s footsteps. Let’s just say it’s taken a while to get them both as excited as my dad is to be on a boat for 8 hours a day. But they are getting there!
I also still really enjoy fishing with my father who somehow seems to always out fish me. If you are into fishing and you have kids, it is so good for them to get out on the water and learn how to fish. Not only is it good to get the kids out of the house and into the sun, but it is also good to ignite a passion that doesn’t involve iPads and Xbox. The more I teach my boys to fish, the more time it keeps them outside appreciating the amazing fishing. We are so lucky to have what feels like a million outdoor activities available to us here in beautiful Tampa Bay.
Here’s a look at some of my favorites…”Froggy’s Favorite Fish Catches Over the Years.” This is my favorite addiction…FISHING!
