In the heat of the game, tempers and emotions can get the better of a player. In this case, a Tampa Bay Lightning player had to pay the price to the NHL.
It may be a good thing this didn’t wind up with Mikhail Sergachev getting a suspension. In Thursday’s game against the Vancouver Canucks, there was a play near the net that wound up with a punch being thrown. It happened in the final minute of play with no penalty being called at the time.
The $5,000 will go to the NHL Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund. This was the highest fine allowed under the current Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Sergachev should be gone from the game for this. Total trash move. #Canucks pic.twitter.com/yMJvTYI4j3
