Debbie Deb To Shoot Her First Music Video… 40 Years Later in Tampa
You know the Milli Vanilli story. Those hits like “Girl You Know It’s True” and “Blame it On The Rain” were not sung by those two guys who accepted that Grammy Award. Later they would be exposed to the world. It’s far from the only example of how shady the record companies back then. Those big Q105 Saturday Night Dance Party hits like “Everybody Dance Now (Gonna Make You Sweat)” and “Strike It Up.” Those weren’t sung by the models you saw in the music videos. They were sung by a woman named Martha Wash who was in the Weather Girls. Well Debbie Deb, who’s a Pasco County girl by the way… she got screwed too.
No music video was ever shot for her iconic hits “Lookout Weekend” and “When I Hear Music.” Why? Some apparently thought Deb was a little too heavy. Ridiculous. So 40 years later, we’re going to right that wrong and shoot one for her! Rollerskaters are getting together at United Skates of America on Armenia in Tampa to film her first music video all these years later. Deb will be there and music history will be made. It’s not often in 2023 when you get a chance to be in an ’80s music video!
