The Cheapest Lunch in Tampa Bay
The Tampa Bay area in recent years has grown into a foodie paradise. Every kind of cuisine you can possibly want is available to you somewhere in our area. And while the selection and the diversity of options are great, sometimes the price gets to be a little high.
I remember when I thought spending $10 for lunch was outrageous. Now lunch is easily $20 or more without even trying. But one place offers a fairly decent lunch, without any frills, except for maybe unlimited fountain drinks all for just a few dollars.
If you’ve never gone to the Café at Sam’s Club, you don’t know what you’re missing. Admittedly, they don’t have the biggest variety of options. But if you like pizza, or if you’d like a great hotdog, you are in luck.
In addition to the pizza and hotdogs, they also have pretzels, the size of your head, churros, and several frozen dessert options.
Granted, having lunch at the Sam’s Club you won’t experience the same ambience as you would in a four-star restaurant. However, sitting on hard plastic benches between to the cash registers and the exit door does offer some fantastic people watching. The best part of the whole deal is that no Club Membership is required, you do not have to be a member of Sam’s Club to enjoy the Cafe, just walk in and order!
When most people think of warehouse, wholesale clubs, like Sams Club or Costco, they tend to think of endless rotisserie chickens, and 5 gallon buckets of pickles or a gallon size container of mayonnaise, maybe buying toilet paper 500 rolls at a time. While those are all slightly exaggerated, they aren’t too far from the truth. But the real deal at these wholesale warehouse clubs are in the café in the front of the store.
$1.38 for an all beef hotdog plus an endless fountain drink is a pretty unbeatable deal.
If hot dogs aren’t your thing, how about $2.50 for a huge slice of pizza and a fountain drink will make your belly and your wallet feel good.
In fact, everything on the menu board at the Sam’s Club Cafe is very reasonably priced. A great lunch can be had almost anywhere in Tampa Bay for a lot less than you would think. With over a dozen Bay Area locations, you probably aren’t too far from one.
