Photos From Tampa Bay Rays Record Breaking Night

Let’s tip our cap to the Tampa Bay Rays.  They are having an amazing start to the baseball season. Now, they have set another record. By beating the Houston Astros (8-3), on Monday April 24th, the Rays set the Modern Era Baseball record for consecutive Home Game Wins at 14. The night before, they set the record for hitting a home-run in the first 21 games.

With the win the Rays are 20-3 overall. Only the 1911 Detroit Tigers and 1955 Brooklyn Dodgers had better starts at 21-2 since 1901.

The Rays host the Astros at Tropicana Field until Wednesday, then they head to the outside of Chicago for a 4 game set with the White Sox.

Tampa Theatre Adds "Star Wars" Movie Series To May

Each year, Tampa Theatre adds more themed movie series to its schedule. In celebration of ‘Star Wars Day’, there’s a series of films from the “Star Wars” series. Here’s what they’re showing.

Tampa‘s historic theater will host THREE of the “Star Wars” films, the first three released. Here’s the schedule and ticket information.

  • May 4, 7 p.m.: "Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope" (PG)

    Yes, it’s “May the 4th.” For those who need that explained, this series might not be for you. However, the most famous line from the movie is “May the Force be with you.” In fact, that line is #8 on the American Film Institute‘s “The 100 Greatest Movie Quotes Of All Time.”

    The first movie shown is the one that began it all. In 1977 we first meet some of the most famous sci-fi characters: Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Princess Leia, C-3PO, R2-D2, Chewbacca, Darth Vader and Obi Wan Kenobi.

  • May 8, 7:30 p.m.: "Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back" (PG)

    They all return for the second installment of the series. “The Empire Strikes Back” came out in 1980. A few new characters were added, such as Yoda and Lando Calrissian.

  • May 15, 7:30 p.m.: "Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi" (PG)

    This one came out in 1983. It was the last in the “Star Wars” saga until George Lucas would release “Episode I – The Phantom Menace” in 1999.

    Member No Fee (One additional ticket per card): $10
