I-275 Road Closure In Tampa Coming Thursday Morning
There’s an overnight road closure in Tampa, which may affect some who drive southbound on I-275 in the early morning.
If you haven’t noticed, there’s lots of road construction happening in the Tampa Bay area. Sometimes, there’s the need to close a lane, and sometimes, to close all lanes. This is another of those cases.
With the “capacity improvements” taking place on I-275 from north of I-4 to Hillsborough Avenue comes a few construction headaches for drivers. On Thursday, July 6, all lanes southbound will be closed beginning at Hillsborough Avenue. There will be a detour from the Hillsborough Avenue exit to bypass the closure back onto the interestate.
The closure at Hillsborough Avenue will begin at 1 a.m. Thursday morning. Drivers headed south will be detoured at Exit 47. Traffic will be guided east to Nebraska Avenue, then south to Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard. Drivers can then turn west and take the southbound onramp back on to I-275.
I-275 is expected to reopen at 5 a.m. Of course, all of this is weather permitting. You may click here to see a detour map. There will be warning signs and electronic message boards showing the detour route. Expect the possibility of some delays and congestion until the road reopens.
This closure is necessary for work on an overhead sign structure.
