What do you do, though, if you’re looking for the real deal? What if you want a real pumpkin perfect for decorating, carving or cooking? The good news is that there are plenty of places in and around Tampa that have a great selection where you can take the kids for a nice outing. Just be aware, if you are planning to get a pumpkin to set out on your porch, wait until it gets closer to Halloween – unless you want a decaying pile of pumpkin mush on your stoop.
Here are some great places to go pick up your pumpkins:
Kerby’s Nursery at 2311 South Parsons Avenue in Seffner, which hosts its annual Pumpkin Patch, including a Scarecrow Scavenger Hunt through October 31st. It’s open Monday through Saturday from 9:00am to 5:00pm, and Sunday from 11:00am-4:00pm.
Hyde Park Village Pumpkin Patch in the Village Circle at Hyde Park Village hosts its annual Pumpkin Patch through October 26 from 3:00pm-6:00pm Friday through Sunday to benefit the Humane Society of Tampa Bay.
Corky’s Pumpkin Patch takes place October 14, 15, 21, 22, 28 and 29 at Keel Farms on Hawks Griffin Road in Plant City. This year it features a 4-acre corn maze, a pumpkin patch, hayrides, and a kids’ zone.
The Seminole Heights United Methodist Church Great Pumpkin Patch runs through October 30 at 6111 North Central Avenue in Tampa Wednesdays through Fridays from 3:00pm-8:00pm. Saturdays it runs 10:00am-8:00pm, and Sundays from noon to 6:00pm. It hosts a Halloween family movie every Friday at 7:30pm.
The Sixth Annual Heights Fall Festival Pumpkin Patch at Armature Works happens Saturday and Sunday, October 14 & 15 , and October 21 & 22, featuring a pumpkin patch, petting zoo, bounce houses and food and drinks. There will also be a food drive benefiting Metropolitan Ministries.
