For the last couple of years, Tampa Bay has been voted as one of the best places to move to. Many people have also speculated as to why. Could it be because of the weather? or maybe it's because of the beaches? Thanks to a recent study by WalletHub, we now know. Tampa is voted as one of the best places to find a new or better job.

If you're looking for the right time to go on your job hunt in Tampa, the time is NOW. “With the U.S. experiencing a low unemployment rate and many employers still having labor shortages, now is an ideal time to find a job," said WalletHub Analyst Cassandra Heppe. "Currently, workers have a lot of negotiating power. Well-qualified job candidates are in a great position to acquire competitive salaries and benefits.”

If you are on the hunt, your best chance at finding a new job may be in another city. WalletHub did everyone a solid and compared more than 180 cities in the United States across 31 key indicators of job-market strength. They also looked at criteria such as median annual income, monthly average starting salary, employment growth, job opportunities, and more to determine the best cities for jobs.

Top 3

3. Salt Lake City, Utah

Even though Salt Lake City came in at number 3, they ranked the highest in many categories. The Utah city had one of the lowest unemployment rates in the US at 3%, the highest rank in net employment outlook, but the factor that put them above other cities was a law. Employers are prohibited from asking candidates about previous salaries.  This ensures people are offered fair wages and that prospects are less likely to experience systemic pay gaps.

2. Tampa, Florida

If you needed more validation that moving to Tampa was the right one, here it is. Our home has the 5th highest number of full-time job opportunities, 6th rank for employment growth rate, and one of the best job security rates in the country. Did we mention Tampa is one of the top cities for singles? That may not help with a job, but it's still a great reason to move here.

1. Scottsdale, Arizona

If you're looking for a job in 2024 the best city to find it in is in Scottsdale, Arizona. With plenty of hiring opportunities for people entering the workforce, Scottsdale ranks the highest in the nation for job growth. They also have the most internship opportunities and the 5th highest median annual income in the country. So not only does Scottsdale provide the highest quantity of jobs, but also the highest quality as well.

7 Best Employers In The Tampa Bay Area

The job market in Tampa is very strong. It helps that we can create thousands of jobs just for tourism alone. We also have a lot of career opportunities in healthcare, technology, and education. But who are the best employers in the Tampa Bay area? Forbes recently partnered with Statista to compile their third annual list of America’s Best Employers By State. Keep scrolling to find out the best 7 employers in the Tampa Bay area.

Some of these employers don't have headquarters in Tampa, or even Florida (like NASA, Costco, Google, Microsoft, just to name a few). But they still hire remotely or have other offices in our city. But we tried to focus our list of employers that are based in the Tampa Bay area, or just outside.

How did Forbes find this info?

The findings of the list are based on a survey conducted in October through June of 2023. It was sent out to 70,000 Americans working for businesses with at least 500 employees across all 50 states. Forbes says the participants were asked if they would recommend their employers to others, and evaluate them based on other factors including working conditions, diversity, compensation packages, potential for development, company image, and more. By the end of the survey, a total of 1,392 organizations made at least one state on the list. There were some organizations that ranked in multiple states. Check out the full list and more about their methodology here.

Are you happy with your employer?

In the list, Forbes mentioned a recent survey from Pew Research Center that said about half of workers in the U.S. are satisfied with their job. We think the pandemic drastically changed corporate America forever. Does working remotely make a difference? We think it all depends on your job and the tasks asked of you. Kim Parker, Pew’s director of social trends research says "Most say they are highly satisfied with the human side of work—their relationships with their coworkers and supervisor. They are much less satisfied with their compensation and with the opportunities they’re given for promotion or advancement."
