Tampa has a brand new fast-casual Mexican restaurant that just opened and the line has been out the door! Streetlight Taco is the new hot Mexican spot is located at 4004 Henderson Blvd. Tampa and has everyone talking. After just a few months of being open, they recently received the Michelin Guide’s Bib Gourmand distinction.
Tampa’s Newest Fast Casual Mexican Restaurant Streetlight Taco:
Meredith from Wild 94.1 went to Streetlight Taco and tried a ton of their best selling items. The first thing you need to know about this restaurant is that it’s not a normal sit down place. After walking in you either order your food from the kiosk or sit down at a table and scan for the menu. When you order your food just know it comes out fast! Also, if you order several items, whatever is ready first comes out immediately. Your entire order will not necessarily come out at the same time.
The Oaxaca (photo to the left) is a warm, fruity, cheese salad that is absolutely beautiful. This dish packs a ton of flavor in each bite and is just as lovely to look at while eating it. It has homemade beets that are warm, quesillo, tomato, edible flowers, mushrooms and a light hibiscus vinaigrette. This is dish is the perfect way to start your meal and it’s perfect before you try their queso dip. It’s a perfect item to order before you shift your taste buds into their delectable tacos.
Make Sure You Try These Yummy Dishes At Streetlight Taco:
Whenever I go to a Mexican restaurant I always love to try their queso dip and Street Light’s was so yummy. Their Green Chile Queso adds a different flair to a classic dish. It’s creamy, tasty and they use a blow torch to add an extra special touch with the dish. I would absolutely order this again.
Next I ordered three different types of tacos and their street corn. I ordered their Tinga taco, beef and Sunday Snack Tostadas with crab meat. The Tinga taco is marinated chicken with avocado rice, onion and cilantro. This was very light but super flavorful at the same time. My favorite were the beef tacos that have a medium size poblano pepper, melty crispy cheese beef picadillo and and guacamole. After I ate one I immediately wanted more! All their tacos come with two in a serving. The street corn does not come off the cob. The corn was sweet and had all the right seasoning to make it taste perfect.
Something that’s different at Streetlight Taco You Should Eat:
The Sunday Snack Tostadas with crab meat was something I had never seen on a menu before so I was intrigued. The tostada is topped with cream cheese, lump crab meat, fresh mango and mango habanero salsa. This was a fresh dish that is sold cold. I though it might taste like a dessert but it wasn’t. It was a light creamy option you should try if you’re visiting Streetlight Taco.
Altogether, my experience was fabulous. The food was different and fun leaving you wanting more. I would give this new fast casual restaurant a 9 out of 10 since I didn’t try any mixed drinks from the bar. Streetlight is a great option for lunch or a casual spot to stop at for dinner.
