Summertime will be here for you know it, so what will you be sipping? Welch’s is throwing their hat in the canned cocktail ring. Food & Wine reported that the company is dropping a brand-new craft cocktail line of fruit-based beverages. Welch explained to the outlet that the cocktails are being produced by Coop Beverage Works, an Oklahoma City‐based craft brewery Coop Ale Works subsidiary, which also makes Sonic Hard Beverages and Tampico Hard Punch.

Welch's New Canned Cocktail Flavors

The new ready-to-drink cocktail line includes four flavors. Canned cocktail fans can look forward to Vodka Transfusion, Vodka Cranberry, Watermelon Mule, and Passion Fruit Mojito. The Vodka Transfusion comes with Welch’s Concord Grape juice and ginger and citrus notes. The Vodka Cranberry comes with the “tangy sweetness” of cranberry juice.

Its Watermelon Mule includes a “burst of real watermelon juice and the kick of ginger.” Lastly, it shared that its Passion Fruit Mojito includes “passion fruit juice with hints of mint and lime.” Each comes with an alcohol by volume (ABV) of 5.9% and will be available in single-flavor, 4-pack 12oz. cans.

According to the company, the cocktails will soon be shipping to select retailers in several states, including Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. Welch's A Bit Late To The Party

Let’s be real, many people have used Welch’s to make boozy beverages. The company just figured out a way to profit from it, which isn’t necessarily bad for them. Some people have even started groups on social media to share cocktail recipes with their products. Someone suggested a Grape Vine Cocktail, which they made by adding a dry gin, lemon juice, grape juice, and some grenadine. “Just recently found out that store-bought grape juice mixes very well with Irish Whiskey,” someone said.

Summer Of Cocktails

Last year, Jack Daniel’s and Coca-Cola launched a ready-to-drink pre-mixed canned cocktail. It comes in 12oz. cans with an alcohol volume of 7%. They also dropped Jack Daniel’s and Coca-Cola Zero Sugar versions soon after.

Interestingly, White Claw has recently taken a different approach by putting out a non-alcoholic seltzer for sober-curious drinkers. The product line White Claw 0% Alcohol is billed as an “adult drink” with 2 grams of sugar, 15 calories, and electrolytes for added hydration. It comes in four flavors which include Black Cherry Cranberry, Lime Yuzu, Peach Orange Blossom, and Mango Passionfruit. Each is a spin on one of White Claw’s most iconic original seltzers.
