Whether you’re fishing or just looking for a way to be on the water, here are the 3 most scenic kayaking spots in Tampa Bay.

Kayaking is a great way to get in some exercise while also keeping cool outside. You can launch a kayak just about anywhere and you can get up close and personal with Florida wildlife.

We were browsing the Tampa Reddit thread when a local was looking for a few ideas on kayaking spots in Tampa Bay for the summer months. There’s no shortage of waterways to explore, but knowing the inside scoop always helps to avoid big crowds and other boats.

The Most Scenic Kayaking Spots In Tampa Bay For The Summer

First up, we have the Dunedin Causeway. The Dunedin Causeway is the perfect spot to launch your kayak and also get in some fishing. Especially in June, the snook and Tarpon bite is heating up making it great for fishing from the kayak.

The Dunedin Causeway is located at 61 Causeway BLVD and is 2.5 miles full of Florida Wildlife just out from Honeymoon Island. It is open from 5 AM to 11 PM and sunrise/sunset make it the perfect time to hit up one of the most scenic kayaking spots in Tampa Bay.

Next up, we’ve got the Chassahowitzka River. Located up in Citrus County, The Chassahowitzka River is loaded with crystal clear water and wildlife to see. One local said, “Hands down the least crowded spot in the summer if you want to go on a weekend.”

‘The Chaz’ is like the lesser-known cousin of the famous Crystal River. You’ll see otters, manatees, birds, and crystal-clear waters that you can get out and swim in. You can launch your kayak at the sandy launch site at the Chassaowitzka River Campground. If you don’t own a kayak, you can rent one onsite.

Another great kayaking spot in the Tampa Bay area is King’s Landing “Nature’s Theme Park” in Apopka. At King’s Landing, there are miles of quiet, crystal-clear waters to paddle through. They have campsites, kayak tours, and kayak and SUP rentals onsite.

If you’re looking for a quiet and chill place to kayak to take in Florida’s scenic routes, King’s Landing is one of the best kayaking spots in Tampa Bay Area. It’s about an hour and a half from Downtown Tampa and reservations are required. They are open 7 days a week from 8 AM to 5 PM.
