Tampa Bay’s Iconic Wright’s Gourmet House Might Be Sold Soon

Oh my gosh, say this isn't happening!? Rumor has it that Tampa Bay's iconic Wright's Gourmet House is in talks to sell. This restaurant is famous for their delicious sandwiches, cakes and freshly made soups. Wright’s Gourmet House first opened in 1963 and has been a Tampa institution known for wonderful food.

According to the TampaBayTimes, Wright's Gourmet House is in talks to sell the restaurant to restaurateur Blake Casper. "With his sister Allison Adams, Casper owns the hospitality company Oxford Commons, which operates Tampa restaurants Oxford Exchange, Predalina, the Stovall House, Casa Cami and St. Petersburg’s The Library." Surprisingly, the next few months Casper will be taking over the restaurant. It's important for them to keep the menu the same for stability reasons. It seems this could be a trial to see if a potential takeover would be successful.

Many residents are concerned that a potential buyout could bring issues with the menu or even make their prices go up. Wright's Gourmet House has been long beloved in the community and the thought of it changing has many people worried. They're known for many delicious dishes and their sandwiches are no different. Our favorite sandwich is called the Beef Martini with thinly sliced roast beef, sauteed mushrooms, bacon and garlic butter on your choice of homemade bread. We always choose the pumpernickel for extra flavor making it one of our favorite sandwiches in the Tampa Bay area.

Many long-standing restaurants in the area have been closing lately or fearing bankruptcy. One of those establishments is Brocato's Sandwich Shop, known for their deviled crab and Cuban sandwiches. They recently filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy owing back taxes around $1.4 million.
