Everybody loves a good sandwich. Here in Tampa Bay, we’re the birthplace of the Cuban and home to a blend of tastes from across the country. But soon, Pinellas County is getting a taste of one of the best sandwich shops in the USA. A brand new mouthwatering Potbelly Sandwich Works is opening in Largo you’ll want to give it a try.

If you haven’t tried Potbelly Sandwich before, you’re missing out. With 4 locations spread across the state of Florida, we’re lucky enough to have 3 right here in Tampa Bay. The new location in Largo is opening across from the Largo Mall plaza.

What Is The Menu Like At Potbelly Sandwich Works?

Potbelly sandwiches are not just like your average Subway or Jimmy Johns. No hate, I’m a big Subway and Jimmy Johns fan, but Potbelly sandwiches are just next level.

With just about 20 different sandwich options, there’s something for everyone from the Farmhouse Chicken, A Wreck, The Italian, and even PBJ. But that’s not all. They have salads, mac + soups, chips + sides, cookies, milkshakes and more.

My favorite, The Italian. It comes with your choice of white or wheat bread, salami, old-world capicola, pepperoni, mortadella, and provolone cheese. You have the option to add mayo, mustard, hot peppers, lettuce, onion, tomato, pickle, oil, and Italian seasoning. You can get any sandwich in its Original size, Bigs, or Skinny.

The milkshakes here are the real deal. You can get Oreo Cookie, cold brew, original chocolate, strawberry or vanilla. They also have chocolate brownie cookies, sugar cookies, oatmeal chocolate chip, and more.

The Famous Potbelly Sandwich

Potbelly Sandwich Works might not be well known around Tampa Bay yet, but their sandwiches date back to the late 1970s from the streets of Chicago. Many locations have daily live music, adding to the old-school atmosphere the shop has.

They have large wooden booths, high-top tables, and outside patio dining. Whether you want to dine in, pick up to go, or get it delivered, you’ve got the options.

Growing up in the Midwest, Potbelly Sandwich Works was my go-to spot for hot sandwiches and cold milkshakes. When I moved to Iowa, the first Potbelly Sandwich, in Iowa, opened on the lower level of my apartment complex. After moving here to Tampa Bay, Potbelly Sandwich opened up its first location in the area back in 2022.

Where Will The New Potbelly Sandwich Be Located?

Potbelly Sandwich Works will be situated between Jeremiah’s Italian Ice and Tijuana Flatts at 13100 Seminole Blvd. We are not sure of the exact opening date, but the signage out front suggests it is opening soon.

The Largo location is set to be one of the eight Potbelly Sandwich Works in Tampa Bay by the end of 2024. Other new locations will be opening in New Tampa, St. Petersburg, and Clearwater.

We'll keep you updated here for more information on the new Potbelly Sandwich shop location in Largo and across Tampa Bay.

7 Most Mouth-Watering Philly Cheesesteaks In Tampa Bay

One of the best parts about living in Tampa Bay is the restaurant options. With people coming into Tampa from across the globe, we’re lucky to have all different types of food so easily accessible. Today, we’re bringing you the 7 most mouth-watering and best Philly Cheesesteaks in Tampa Bay.

We were looking through the Tampa Reddit thread when one local was looking for some help. The OP said, “Craving some Philly for Tomorrow” and asked for the Best Philly Cheesesteak in Tampa Bay.

The comments were flooded with different options for the best Philly Cheesesteaks in Tampa Bay. The people were reunited with some of their favorite spots and as always, some were at a crossroads when their spot wasn’t voted.

Before diving into the best Philly Cheesesteaks in Tampa Bay, let’s break down the sandwich itself.

What Makes A Good Philly Cheesesteak?

The Classic Philly Cheesesteak might seem to be open to interpretation, but like a Cuban, there are rules. An authentic Philly Cheesesteak comes loaded up with juicy, ribeye steak that is thinly sliced.

Next, you’ll top that ribeye with melted, gooey provolone cheese, white American cheese or Cheez Wiz. Yup, Cheese Wiz. Then, you’ll want to throw on some fried onions and pack that all onto a toasted hoagie roll.

The History Of The Philly Cheesesteak

The legendary Philly Cheesesteak dates back to the 1930s. Brothers Pat and Harry Olivieri from South Philly joined forces with their accidental creation of the Cheesesteak.

Legend has it that Pat and Harry operated a hot dog stand at the corner of Wharton Streets and Passyunk Avenue in South Philly (currently where Pat’s King of Steaks operates). Pat suggested Harry go buy some beef from the store.

They sliced it up, grilled it with onions, and piled it high on a roll. A Taxi driver smelled the beef and stopped in to see what was cooking and asked for one of the sandwiches. The cabbie paid for the sando and the Philly Cheesesteak was born.

Now, let's get into what we've all been waiting for, Philly Cheesesteaks in Tampa Bay.
