There's an app for everything these days. Even for finding cheap and ready-made meals in your area. And unlike the UberEats or DoorDash app, there are no ridiculous fees for your food. Sound to good to be true? Well let me tell you about the Too Good To Go app, which I recently discovered is a game changer for last minute meals or snacks.

Before I get started, let me point out that this is not an ad for the Too Good To Go app. They didn't pay us to write this post. But I've talked to multiple people in the area that say they've never heard of it, so I wanted to share the knowledge.

Too Good To Go was founded in 2016 in Copenhagen to fight food waste. In 8 years, the company has grown to over 90 million registered users and 155,000 active business partners across 17 countries in Europe and North America. Too Good To Go's focus is to help save good food from going to waste. It's a win-win for everyone. Businesses can earn additional revenue from surplus items that would be thrown away, customers can enjoy great food at a low-cost value, and we're all helping protect the environment!

What You Can Get On The Too Good To Go App In Tampa Bay

So how does it work? Most of the bags have a set time window when you can pick up, usually at the close of the day: afternoons for bakeries or late at night for pizzerias or the few participating restaurants. All you have to do is reserve your bag at your business of choice and pick it up at the reserved time.

The thing is, you never know what you're going to get. You could get a whole meal of jerk chicken, rice and cabbage for $5.99 from Jerk Hut. Or you can get a few donuts from a local bakery or even Krispy Kreme. Even grocery stores like Whole Foods offers ready to eat items like premade meals, soups, salads, and other items that may be at their sell-by date.

A variety of Tampa Bay businesses are on the TGTG app. But know that you'll mainly find doughnut shops, bakeries, panaderias, bagel shops, and the occasional pizzeria. There's even a Reddit thread of people's reviews of the surprise bags they got in the Tampa Bay area.

Here are some Tampa Bay businesses you can find on the app:

  • Krispy Kreme
  • Kahwa Coffee
  • Blind Tiger Cafe
  • Slice of the Burg
  • Moonlight Boba
  • Terra Mar Brazilian Steakhouse
  • The Crumb Factory Bakery
  • Peach Cobbler Factory
  • Jerk Hut
  • Gigi's Cupcakes
  • AND MORE!

One of the best parts about living in Tampa Bay is the restaurant options. With people coming into Tampa from across the globe, we’re lucky to have all different types of food so easily accessible. Today, we’re bringing you the 7 most mouth-watering and best Philly Cheesesteaks in Tampa Bay.

We were looking through the Tampa Reddit thread when one local was looking for some help. The OP said, “Craving some Philly for Tomorrow” and asked for the Best Philly Cheesesteak in Tampa Bay.

The comments were flooded with different options for the best Philly Cheesesteaks in Tampa Bay. The people were reunited with some of their favorite spots and as always, some were at a crossroads when their spot wasn’t voted.

Before diving into the best Philly Cheesesteaks in Tampa Bay, let’s break down the sandwich itself.

What Makes A Good Philly Cheesesteak?

The Classic Philly Cheesesteak might seem to be open to interpretation, but like a Cuban, there are rules. An authentic Philly Cheesesteak comes loaded up with juicy, ribeye steak that is thinly sliced.

Next, you’ll top that ribeye with melted, gooey provolone cheese, white American cheese or Cheez Wiz. Yup, Cheese Wiz. Then, you’ll want to throw on some fried onions and pack that all onto a toasted hoagie roll.

The History Of The Philly Cheesesteak

The legendary Philly Cheesesteak dates back to the 1930s. Brothers Pat and Harry Olivieri from South Philly joined forces with their accidental creation of the Cheesesteak.

Legend has it that Pat and Harry operated a hot dog stand at the corner of Wharton Streets and Passyunk Avenue in South Philly (currently where Pat’s King of Steaks operates). Pat suggested Harry go buy some beef from the store.

They sliced it up, grilled it with onions, and piled it high on a roll. A Taxi driver smelled the beef and stopped in to see what was cooking and asked for one of the sandwiches. The cabbie paid for the sando and the Philly Cheesesteak was born.

Now, let's get into what we've all been waiting for, Philly Cheesesteaks in Tampa Bay.

The Philly Cheesesteak is packed with meat and was even nationally recognized earlier this year. They do not have a website, but their menu is on the Doordash site. The Colonial Corner is located at 7201 49th Street North in Pinellas Park. Their Instagram post below speaks for itself.

Steve D's Philly Cheesesteaks

Steve D's clocks in as one of the most authentic options on the list. The user that recommended Steve D's said, "From Philly ... There is a food truck that is the absolute best, Steve D’s. They post their schedule for the week on their Facebook page. It’s a father and his kids that are from the Philly area. So good!" Today, they are located at Eddie C. We had another Philly native bring their suggestion to the table. Now, we can't confirm this, but they said, "West Shore pizza, I moved down here from Philly last August. West Shore is as close as you're gonna get." If you've tried WSP's Philly Cheesesteak, fill us in on ranking. (Photo below is embedded from TripAdvisor) They have locations spread across the Tampa Bay area.
