Denis Phillips Talks With MJ In The Aftermath Of Hurricane Helene
We are so thankful to work with ABC action news chief meteorologist Dennis Phillips. It seems that with every storm season and with every storm that could be a threat to the bay area, we rely on Denis as he reminds us not to panic. It seems in the past, that there have been times when other news coverage has sensationalized storms. Denis has been the voice of reason. As Hurricane Helene approached, Denis warned us of the storm surge. He explained that 5 to 8 foot storm surge could be devastating to our area.
Hurricane Helene made landfall around 11pm on September 26 in Taylor County. Almost the exact location as Idalia in 2023. We are dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Helene now and the damage that the storm surge has caused to so many in the Tampa Bay community.
Meteorologist Denis Phillips Talks With MJ on the MJ Morning Show
MJ was determined to make it into the radio station this morning. He walked a mile from his home up Westshore. Then he caught a ride with a Tampa Police Department officer across the bridge to the station. It was treacherous trying to get into the station. Unless you had a big truck, you could flood out. MJ made it in. He was able to talk with Denis Phillips. Denis connects with the community regarding the storm and as he’s guided us up to the storm, through the storm, and now he offers his heartfelt condolences on the loss many are now dealing with.
