The new information from the National Hurricane Center regarding Hurricane Milton's arrival in Florida is out. There's some good news... and not so good news. ABC Action News Chief Meteorologist Denis Phillips has looked at the new information and will go live at 7pm tonight on Facebook with his thoughts.

Denis Phillips reacts to the 5pm Hurricane Milton readings...

The Good News About Hurricane Milton

Let's start with the good news for most of our listeners who live in the Tampa Bay area. The storm's track has nudged a bit south again. We can't get overly excited about this because as we all know, the last few hours before landfall are when we can see those "wobbles." Hurricane Milton's track could certainly nudge north in the next update at 11PM tonight.

The Bad News

The bad news is that the storm has strengthened. Denis says Hurricane Milton is now a Cat 5 hurricane again with winds of 165 mph. Denis says this is an extremely dangerous hurricane that will bring catastrophic surge to the West coast of Florida. Even though it's a Category 5 storm now, it's still not expected to be that strong once it reaches Florida.

Timing

Denis told us this morning that he thinks the tropical storm force winds will arrive in the afternoon hours tomorrow. The worst of Hurricane Milton's wrath will be felt late Wednesday night through Thursday morning. So do your best to get some good sleep tonight. It's going to be a long night tomorrow.
