Bruce Springsteen Appearing on Concept Album About Dennis Hopper

Bruce Springsteen is part of a list of guests who appear on a new concept album from The Waterboys about late Hollywood icon Dennis Hopper.

The 25-song concept album is titled Life, Death and Dennis Hopper and also features Fiona Apple, and Steve Earle. Springsteen's contribution is on the track "Ten Years Gone," while Apple and Earle can be heard on "Letter From An Unknown Girlfriend" and "Kansas," respectively.

Waterboys frontman Mike Scott said, in part, in a statement about the album, "It begins in his childhood, ends the morning after his death, and I get to say a whole lot along the way, not just about Dennis, but about the whole strange adventure of being a human soul on planet Earth."

The album's first preview, "Hopper's On Top (Genius)," is slated for release on January 10.

Throughout his 55-year career, Hopper appeared in more than 150 films. He made his big directorial break with 1969's Easy Rider, which embodied the rebellious spirit of the sixties.

From intense performances in Blue Velvet and Apocalypse Now to the raw True Romance, Hopper showed incredible versatility. His role in Hoosiers led to him receiving an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor in a Supporting Role.

Hopper passed away from cancer in 2010 at age 74. Just weeks earlier, he received his star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame.
