Bern’s Steak House in Tampa has teamed up with La Segunda Bakery to create a special steak sandwich for its 70th birthday. This treat is available until March 7 at La Segunda locations in Ybor City, Kennedy, and St. Pete.

The sandwich features La Segunda's Cuban bread, truffle sauce, thinly sliced ribeye, Bern’s special cheese blend, caramelized onions, and arugula. Make sure to get there early if you want one; they sell out quickly.

David Laxer, the owner and president of Bern’s, is excited about this collaboration. “Collaborating on an unforgettable steak sandwich feels like the perfect way to begin our 70th anniversary year,” said Laxer to That's So Tampa.

Bern's Steak House started small after Bern and Gert Laxer moved from New York. Initially, they owned a juice bar in Tampa, which evolved into one of the city's beloved dining spots after purchasing Beer Haven in 1956.

In its early days, Bern's offered affordable steak sandwiches with cold drinks, drawing locals from various walks of life. Over time, they expanded to eight dining rooms with a diverse clientele.

Today, Bern's is famous for its aged chateaubriand and has an extensive wine cellar holding 110,000 bottles. The restaurant remains family-owned, preserving its unique dining legacy.
