Lactalis Canada, Inc. initiated a recall on April 14. The company pulled 2,869 cases of Specially Selected crème brûlée from ALDI stores in seven states. Glass fragments might be lurking inside.
This recall hits products sold across Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, New York, and Virginia. Each dessert sits in a glass jar and could "contain foreign objects, specifically glass."
According to WTSP, the FDA stamped this recall with a Class II classification on April 28. What does that mean? "A situation in which use of or exposure to a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote."
Check your fridge. The affected product carries a best before date of May 9. Look for product number 710298-4099100342826 printed on the packaging.
ALDI's website lists the dessert as "out of stock" now. But there's a problem — no refund instructions exist yet for customers who purchased it and might still have jars sitting at home.
Did anyone get hurt? The recall notice stays silent on injuries connected to the glass contamination. More than 2,000 cases reached stores before the recall started.
How did glass get mixed into these desserts? The manufacturer hasn't explained. If you bought this item, throw it out. Don't eat it.
