Triple H Before He Was Triple H Talking About Hulk Hogan and WWF vs WCW in 1995
Long before I was playing Cyndi Lauper songs on Q105, yours truly was a pro wrestling ring announcer. I got to work with wrestlers who would later wrestle for the WWF like Triple H, Scotty Too Hotty, Matt & Jeff Hardy… as well as the ones who were no longer in their prime and were now in the minor leagues like Nikolai Volkoff, the Bushwackers, Greg Valentine and “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka. It was mostly for fun and a chance to somewhat live out my dreams as a kid to be a pro wrestler… without having to wear a speedo in public. By college, I was more into radio. At one point, radio and pro wrestling collided and I hosted a nationally-syndicated talk radio show called “Inside Pro Wrestling.” In this clip I found recently, our special guest was “Jean Paul Levesque” from WCW who would later become Triple H in WWE. This was Paul’s first big break in pro wrestling. I had just announced a couple shows with him 2 years before this interview when he was one of Walter “Killer” Kowalski’s students at a pro wrestling school in Boston. His name back then was “Terra Rising.” This new character he was playing in WCW in 1995 was a European snob, so you hear a fake French accent – although it comes and goes during the interview.
