BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS - JUNE 12: Colton Parayko #55 of the St. Louis Blues and Laila Anderson celebrate after defeating the Boston Bruins in Game Seven to win the 2019 NHL Stanley Cup Final at TD Garden on June 12, 2019 in Boston, Massachusetts. (Photo by Patrick Smith/Getty Images)

While we hoped to see Steven Stamkos and the Tampa Bay Lightning lift the Stanley Cup this year, it was a heartwarming scene tonight in Boston. Laila is 11 years old and is fighting HLH, a life-threatening immune disease. The St. Louis Blues made sure she was flown to Boston for Game 7 of the Stanley Cup playoffs, just in case her favorite team won. And they did. Not only did the Blues fly her to the game. They invited her down the ice to be one of the first to celebrate with the Stanley Cup!

As for our Lightning, if it’s any consolation, Las Vegas is already out tonight with odds on next season. Tampa Bay is once again the heavy favorite to win the Cup. Is it October yet?
