It wasn’t your typical Sunday night!
While most in Tampa Bay were settling in to their Sunday night routine, there were a few 16,000 that poured into the Amalie Arena to see the man himself, Lionel Richie!
Stopping in between songs and entertaining the crowd, he told fans he couldn’t believe there were some fans that hadn’t seen him in concert yet because he’s only been touring for 400 years, as the crowd echoed in laughter.
It was definitely a night to remember as he pointed out some of the strange fans that were in the crowd. At one point there was a woman on the floor that decided to do a split and he had the cameras zoom in on this woman as he gazed in disbelief.
Throughout the show he kept pointing out certain actions he kept noticing and gave his thoughts just as the man who was clearly on a date and it was clear that the date was not going anywhere; as he chuckled.
Those who went to experience The Commodore days were certainly in for a treat. Lionel Richie covered many of their greatest hits, ‘Lady You Bring Mr Up’, ‘Brick House’ and many more as the strangers next to you became your dancing partners.
Towards the end of the show, he said he realized that fans go to his shows and he sees them crying and laughing; it’s because each song means something to these fans… a memory, weddings, graduations, birthdays and life.
